3 Lash Life Myths & Successful Lash Makers
“Lash life is all fun and games!” Is it? Successful lash makers may seem lucky, but this is not what has made them reach the top. The world of beauty, of lash extensions, is just like any other – competitive, challenging, tough. Only the strongest survive.
But first, let’s talk about a few common lash life myths that affect society’s perception of this profession:
“Lash makers have an easy life – they just sit down all day and have fun with lashes & their cute tweezers.”
Ha! If only leading a lash life would be that simple. Depending on the type of services provided (new lash set or fill up; basic 1:1 lash extensions, Russian volume lashes or mega volume sets), it takes somewhere between 1-3 hrs (for inexperienced lash makers – even longer) to finish their work on just one client. Now just imagine having to sit (for all of these hours) in a position that allows you to glue the false lashes to the natural lashes of your customer. Now imagine having 3-4 or more clients per day. Pretty easy, right?
Creating gorgeous lash sets is a child’s play.
Yes, if you would be responsible for the health and wellbeing of your doll. Then it would be considered child’s play. But, when you are doing lashes on human clients, you have to know the process, to go through each stage carefully and make sure that your sharp tweezers or eyelash extension glue – do not get into your client’s eye. At the same time, each customer has a different eye shape and physiognomy. There are many different styles one can pick and combine and you have to find the right look for your specific client.
It doesn’t matter who trains you – just get a certificate to start offering lash extension services.
That’s why we see so many beautiful clients with bad lashes. It’s not just about the work of other lash makers and the fact that it is of the poorest quality. What truly pains us as professionals is that the natural lashes are damaged and restoring them to their original beauty is a long and difficult process (more about this here). Just think about this: when investing in training, you invest in yourself – you acquire skills & necessary knowledge to become the best in your field. You pay for a course once, but you use the knowledge and skills for the rest of your life. If what you learn is wrong, you will be doing lashes the wrong way for some time until customers will stop calling. They will prefer someone that does a great job, cares for their wellbeing, and for the integrity of their natural lashes.
